SKYHAWK Card Challenge this Week: Be generous: think of others and give to others.
Our Pasta for Pennies Fundraiser is off to a great start! Let's help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) continue to provide children and adults with needed treatments for these diseases and fund blood cancer research. Give your Advisory teacher your change to help make a big change for those in need. Here are the results of Week 2. Remember we still have till Friday to raise money!
iMiddle's Week of Code is based on the world-wide Hour of Code. New coding tools such as Scratch and Tynker allow anyone to make their own computer programs. Some students have created their own computer programs in Exploring Computers class. This week's activities can be completed whether you've coded before or not.
Creating a program is much like the car design you did last week. Both involve the Design Process:
This video shows the how to use the activity based on the movie, Frozen. You will have a choice of other coding activities involving Minecraft, Angry Birds, Star Wars, Frozen and more. The information in this video will apply to whichever activity you choose.

Tomorrow's WACKY WEDNESDAY theme is Holiday Spirit. Wear your favorite holiday colors: red, green, blue, silver, or wear a combo of it all!
There are two NEW clubs forming at iMiddle in January:
Circle of Friends:This club is headed up by Ms. Martin and Mr. Grajeda and will meet during lunch time on Thursdays. If you are interested in creating new friendships through fun games and activities, complete the permission slip and return to the Counseling Center.
Green Team:This club is headed up by Ms. Gardner and Ms. Torigoe. If you are interested in working together to beautify our campus through recycling and gardening projects, complete the permission slip form and return it to the Counseling Center.

Tomorrow we have minimum day schedule (just like Wednesday). Students may come to school dressed in pajamas and/or FROZEN themed clothing. Whatever you choose to wear, be sure that it is appropriate according to our school dress code.
Teachers have a few applications for Circle of Friends and the Green Team clubs that are starting in January. If you would like to join one of these new clubs, fill out the form, have your parent sign it tonight, and return it to Ms. G in the Counseling Center tomorrow.
6th/7th/8th Grade Focus:School-Wide Hour of Code
Some people create programs to help others in their community and around the world. What problem(s) might you solve? Although this video features high school girls, the idea of creating apps to help others could apply to all of us.
Design Challenge: Create holiday greeting or some positive message and post the web address to this form. You may you use any coding tool. For 8th grade iPads, Tynker.com works well. Sixth and seventh can use Scratch.
